5 Ways to Buy Cheaper Books

1. Buy online. If you go to alibris.com, or amazon.com, or chapters.com, you can often get a good selection of books at a discounted price. Alibris and Amazon are particularly helpful because they have used books available. Amazon offers you used books through their marketplace option. Alibris automatically searches for used books. Remember that when you order books online you can often get free shipping. At Amazon, the free shipping is not available with used books. So grab a calculator and find out what the best option for you is. If you start looking for your books in advance, certain online sites offer you discounts if you shop more often. Alibris will send you a coupon for 10% off your next purchase. Is it worth it to break your order up to get this discount? Do you know someone who recently bought books online, and can you borrow their code? Can you find any special discount keys on the internet? (These discount codes wont be available on the site itself: you will need to google other sites to find out). One last point about buying books online: eBay, though not specializing in books, often has books at a fraction of their cost. Just check the shipping prices to make sure that you are getting a bargain. You can get new or used books on eBay: often eBay stores are the best place to search so that you can Buy it Now; sometimes waiting for the end of an auction is the way to go. 2. Scan Around School. Used bookstores are often located very close to college and university campuses. Often times, students sell the school books that they dont want to use again. You dont have to spend hours in each bookstore looking for each book: simply walk into the bookstore with a list and ask the store clerk or owner if they have what books you are looking for. The person in the bookstore will be able to help you much more quickly than you would be able to find the books yourself: they might check a computer, or they might know exactly where it is, or they might be able to take you to the spot on the shelves where it would be if they had it. 3. Be edition-savvy. Buying used would be great, but you need to have edition 847 of Microbiology; it just came out this year! Ask your professor if it is okay to use an older edition of the text. Many textbooks are reprinted frequently, and even your prof cant keep up with the latest updates. Offer to photocopy the extra chapter, if there is an extra chapter added to the latest edition. If you need to have the latest edition, buying online is probably your best way to find the cheapest one. Textbooks are not the only books that you have to be edition-savvy for. If you are slated to read Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, there have been many different versions of this book published (and some you can get at a used bookstore for only a scant few dollars). Ask your prof (you can phone or email them) if they want you to have a particular edition. Sometimes they want you to (literally) be on the same page as them; other times they just want you to follow along as best you can. If they want you to get a certain critical edition, again, offer to photocopy the literary criticism. 4. Weigh the Benefits. Some books are considered recommended reading. Is it worth getting? Is the prof ever going to refer to these books? Why not wait until later in the year. If the prof mentions something crucially important in a certain book, then you can consider getting the book later if you need to. Youd be surprised how many books make the syllabus without even being mentioned through the entire year. Other times, it might save you time and hassle to simply get the book. For instance, if you are in a first year English class, and they recommend buying the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, you might as well get the book because you will be using it for the next four years. Ask an older student in your class what books are worth getting. If its not worth buying a book, you can often read what you need to read in the library. You can also borrow classmates books from time to time. 5. Photocopy Everything. Im not advising that you break any copyright laws here, but sometimes if you can photocopy books, (entire out-of-copyright books, courseware packs, or relevant chapters) you will be saving yourself a ton of money. And the cheapest places to photocopy books are often not on campus. And its often cheaper to do it yourself rather than take it to a service. Ask a classmate to borrow the books for one day: and always return them the next day. These five hints to buy cheaper books can more than halve your book expenses. Then you can spend your money on other, more important things (like rent, tuition, or refreshments). Be an active comparison shopper to save yourself tons of money. Making a Difference

It is said that education can open the path to opportunity and change lives for the better. I discovered the truth of this first hand when I was young. I grew up as the son of an impoverished and much persecuted widow on a small farm in rural South India. Because my mother was very poor, she could send only one of her two sons to school. That son was my older brother, George. I had to stay home to cultivate the land and care for our few chickens and cattle. At first, I didnt mind and stayed home for two years looking after the land and livestock. Then I realised that I had made a terrible mistake. Fortunately for me, The Baptist Mission society opened an English Middle School in our village. They were looking for students and this was my opportunity to persuade mother to send me to school. Even though the school was about a mile away, I promised to look after all the work at home before going to school, and run home during the one hour lunch break to look after watering and grazing of our cattle. I pestered mother until she relented and, with great personal sacrifice, she sent me to the local village school, After I finished middle school, I had to go to the high school six miles from home. There was no road from our village to the school. So every day I had to walk those 12 miles barefoot through gullies and unpaved footpaths studded with razor-sharp granite stones. When I came home, I had to attend to the livestock and other chores before I could study by our kerosene lamp when we were fortunate enough to afford the fuel. My prospect for a high school education was bleak but fortune favoured me. The State of Travancore decided to grant a scholarship to one student from each district. I wrote this competitive exam and, by the Grace of God, I won the scholarship. Thus, I was able to continue my high school studies. With this scholarship, I was able to go to Madras during the vacation.. While there I obtained admission to the Madras Veterinary College. During my college years in Madras, I was able to pay the college fees and support myself and my family with the small income I received from daily extracurricular visits to many households to treat sick animals. In due time, I became a veterinarian and held many government posts in India, Sri Lanka, and finally Canada where I took a post graduate degree in microbiology and became a pathologist and research scientist. As is often the case for Indians living abroad, I received letters from neighbours, friends, and even strangers requesting financial aid. I could not refuse their pathetic appeals and I succumbed. It was incumbent upon me to help so I did. Recalling my own experience of winning a scholarship and thereby having a chance to pursue my studies and a better life, I decided that the best way to help the poor in the villages was to provide scholarships. God had blessed me with modest prosperity so, with the resources I had saved through careful management and investment, I set up a fund the motto of which is escape from poverty through education. This fund offers scholarships to bright students of poor parents, of coolies, rubber tappers, destitute widows, field hands, etc. With the knowledge and skills these students gain, they obtain employment, are able to support their parents, and improve their community. The only stipulation is that the student should have good marks and come from a poor family. Sometimes students from very poor families have to help their parents to find their daily bread and do not get enough time to study. Under such circumstances I slightly relax the rules and exceptions are made based on the applicants background. If the area is still rural, students may still have to walk many kilometres to school, returning home in the evening to do their chores and study by kerosene lamp. Books, pens and study materials may be beyond their parent=s ability to buy. Poverty makes one prone to illness in an area where disease and malnutrition thrive. Many father=s desert their families and a deserted or widowed mother may have no means to support her family. Her children may be in an orphanage without the emotional support of a family. All these factors can affect the ability to study and are taken into consideration. Therefore, the student is requested to submit a short biographical profile outlining the family=s circumstances along with the other documentation; a copy of marks obtained on the school -leaving certificate, proof of income, and a letter from a priest, doctor, or community official to verify the applicant=s statements. This package of documents is taken to the fund=s local agent who interviews the applicant and visits the student in his/her home. The agent sends all the applications to Canada where they are further evaluated by a committee of the Scholarship Fund and approved or disapproved based on the merit of each case. So far, during the last 10 years, till the end of 2006, the fund has sponsored more than 800 students - Hindu, Muslim, and Christian - to study in a variety of fields ranging from auto mechanics to zoology. These young men and women can go on to make a difference in their world and maybe even ours. Each of us is able to make a difference. Find one small niche where our talents or resources can make life better for others. If we all do this, the world will change. Dr. Simon is a retired research scientist and philanthropist. Respect, Devotion And Love

All relationships are based on love, respect and devotion, no matter what type of relationship it is. It is not easy to maintain good relationship forever but we need to keep it bounded by respect, if love is not possible. I observed that a person is our society don't respect those to whom they don't have my relation or their relation with them get worse. I believe that respect is the stronger bound in keep strengthen the relationship than love because to love in mostly not in your own hand however to respect in up to you. Behind all this there are many factors, which weaken our relationships, irresponsibility, uncooperative behavior, selfishness and lack of quality time for your relatives and dominant behavior from one side. During my past life, I have seen a lot of occasions when impossible turns into possible and vice versa because of change in behavior. I mostly emphasize on relationships because it is the main source of mental happiness and calmness. Sometimes a sentence of respect, a smile of love, and a hand shake with your partner or opposition changes your world into heaven from the hell. Imagine how little things produce a great change and I believe that such small acts of reconciliation makes a person great. I always emphasize on respect rather than a love because respect is the only way to keep relation bounded however love will produce charm and strength in it. Believe me relationships are bound by respect grow with your devotion and becomes delightful with love. Written by Muhammad Adnan Pharm-D, University of Karachi.

Naturopathic Colleges

Naturopathic colleges commonly provide four-year educational programs that are designed so that graduates may earn a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine diploma or degree upon successful completion. (Degree availability is subject to individual naturopathic school, State and/or Country requirements.) If you are interested in this particular discipline of alternative medicine, you will soon discover that enrolling in a naturopathic college allows you to learn a unique system of health care, as naturopathy is a delicate integration of ancient medicine, natural healing arts and up-to-date, noninvasive medical therapies. Furthermore, naturopathic medicine is still based on 6 essential principles of healthcare, including to "first, do no harm," to "treat the whole person," and "disease prevention." Prior to applying and/or enrolling in a naturopathic college, it is important to review course prerequisites. In some cases, naturopathic colleges require college-level courses in biology, chemistry and physics; in addition to anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry before entry. Typical programs which are taught in a naturopathic college may involve acupuncture and Oriental medicine; clinical nutrition; homeopathic medicine; life coaching; and physical medicine, as well. As with most alternative medicine institutions, accredited naturopathic colleges seek to provide an in-depth academic and practical training program that prepares students to become natural healing practitioners. To do so, healing arts studies and general curriculums are quite course intensive and usually includes coursework in anatomy; basic sciences; biochemistry; botanical medicine; clinical diagnosis; cardiology (and additional studies relevant to diagnosis and treatment of other disorders); counseling; environmental medicine; Herbology; homeopathy; hydrotherapy; immunology; microbiology; naturopathic history and philosophy; natural therapeutics; neuroscience; nutrition; prevention and therapeutic exercises; and much more comprehensive subject matter. Because naturopathy is often facilitated as complementary medicine, integrative health and wellness medicine, and as a primary health care system by itself, chances are that naturopathic college graduates will be able to find lucrative employment opportunities in this fast-growing natural healthcare field. In a lot of cases, successful graduates of naturopathic colleges may go onto working in natural health care or integrative health care clinics, but some naturopathic doctors may elect to become entrepreneurs of the field and open their own primary care facilities. Seven Steps to Infuse Focus for Stronger Results

Distraction wreaks havoc on results. Stay focused on success and you will experience greater results. Success strategy #1: Before you pick up the phone, get clear on your outcome. What would be a great result? Remind yourself of an excellent call where you absolutely succeeded. Put your mind on that right before you make the call. Success strategy #2: If you have become rote or automated in your approach, brainstorm six or seven new words you could use in the opening of your call. If you are scripted, see if you can infuse a different tone of voice or a welcoming hello to change the pattern. Variation will give your brain creative connections that are going to hook the caller more so than a clearly automated approach. Perhaps you can script out six or seven different approaches and then choose an approach before you make the call, and be prepared to shift into a different approach if the caller responds in ways that lead you to believe a different approach would succeed. Success strategy #3: Get clear on your energy level. Measure it. How are you feeling? When your energy is high, this is going to be experienced by everyone you reach. Get into high energy and stay focused on your purpose. Here is an example of something you can say to yourself before you make the call that will up that energy "I have that feeling something really great is going to happen today. I am not sure what it is, I just have that feeling." Even saying that moves your brain into the sense of anticipation. When you are anticipating something amazing -- your whole way shifts into the positive. And everyone loves to be on the other side of that communication. Even if you have no idea what great thing might happen, mention that in the call and people are drawn and attracted to you. Successful calls will increase your focus, because positive feedback breeds more results. The more people respond well to you, the more you want to make the calls. Set into motion good results, and these results beget more good results. Success strategy #4: Remember, fear repels. Fear is smelly. When you are afraid you are going to fail, everyone feels it and instinctively is repelled by your words and your communications. Are you feeling fear? Are you nervous or scared when you are making the call? This is something to work through because inadvertently feeling afraid before you communicate with potential clients, they are going to be repelled by you. Move out of fear and into anticipation of something good. It is a mental discipline to do this and everyone can do this. You can choose what you are thinking and feeling at any given moment. When you stay in fear, you can lose deals and this doesn't do much for your focus or your results. Success strategy #5: Take breaks to inspire. Design breaks from your calls that put you back into clarity of the excellent results you wish to achieve. Most people take a break and think about everything that went wrong. Focus on what is right. Any small positive wins. Or pick up an inspiring book and read a passage between calls. Seriously get focused on something that lifts you up so you are ready to win with the next call. This mindset will streamline your results upward. It sounds so basic, but inspire yourself right before your next set of communications. Success strategy #6: Who are you being when you answer the phone? People focus a lot on making the sales calls and forget that answering the follow-up questions is critical to increasing results. If you are in a negative mindset, don't take the call. Wait until you are inspired and then answer. Or pause when the phone rings and answer the phone with focus, energy and intention. Success strategy #7: When you experience communication with someone who brings your energy down, recognize this and let it go before making the next call. This is critical to increasing your overall results. Learn what you can about any one conversation. And it is not always about you. It might be about you, but it might also be a bad day for the other person. So when someone brings you down, don't give them the "power" to change your chemistry for the rest of the day. Let it go. I tell my clients "be a duck" and let things roll off. Stay in tune with your power, your focus, your own abilities. When you allow another person's energy to infect you beyond five or 10 minutes, you are giving someone else your own power. Your results belong to you. Stay focused, it works. Animus Mundi and Intelligent Design

Animus Mundi: The World Mind or Critical Mass of intellectual and spiritual energy was called Animus Mundi by the spiritually aware revivalists of the turn of the century. The spirit or anima (Aristotle) in all that is includes things not alive as we think of it. The Mayans put it this way Do not put yourself in front of your Self. There is a qualitative aspect to our genetic mutations and other changes in the world around us. Koestler saw some of it and Bucky Fuller (A charmed person to be sure.) put it forward as creative realization. I also have enjoyed many other Fullerisms and principles. His Observer of the Observed is a tool I have found useful in keeping balance even as I seem to be hysterical in the joy of what goes on around me. Bucky said that the world around us is the way it is because we think or made it that way because of our mindset or what might be termed our paradigm. All we need to do to actualize great and wondrous change is to think differently. Dr. Janice Boddy says we have a Reifying thrust of Materialism and we need to develop a Reifying thrust of Spiritualism I think. CIRCADIAN RYTHMS: Just as Gertrude observed in her airplane flights over America, there are designs that open and aware artists or people can tune into. The ancients who worshipped Ra or other sun-gods were more aware of our intricate and intimate involvement with the sun than you might imagine. It is not just the desire for melatonin such as the Star Fire Ceremony of the Rosicrucians like Gardner that allow me to say this. He details the psychic and spiritual effects on us through the Third Eye. It is not just the accuracy of the prophetic Mayan calendar which tracks the transit of Venus in its short count. That transit has a means of understanding the effect of the sun when combined with the Long Count or Polar Wander Path. I have tried to describe these things in other books and I confess it is not a simple discussion; or at least I am not able to make it so. Suffice it to say, there are ways we are impacted by the forces of nature that make us a very habit formed creature far beyond mere psychological conditioning. The billions of years that life has been evolving in concert with or alongside the effects of the stars and cosmic or earth energies are in all of us whether we are attuned to it or not. When man does not know all the awesome potential he (she) has to develop God does God develop as well as God would like? When man does not fulfill a positive harmonizing function and all manner of other life forms suffer because of it, does that mean it was God who was the problem? I say God (he/she/it) or Divine Providence must grow or harmonize and man making God the culprit for mans own deceits and destructive acts is mere anthropomorphing ego. We must stop the divisive and racist designs that old religions and other insane constructs cause. There is more MUCH more wealth and health available for all life on earth if only we ethically planned to act in creative cooperation with All that IS. This is the real Charm of Making. Intelligent Design: WILLIAM DEMBSKI: - Rather than deal with Intelligent Design thoughts and the math of this highly accredited academic who was given a Research Center at Baylor University, that has been in the news a lot over the last few years; I will place some thoughts that may be confusing but touch upon some of the issues of the Origin of Life as debated in the larger theme of our beginnings and consciousness studies. It is a response with other people in a long thread of posts on the matter of Creationism and Intelligent Design. I see Evolutionary Theory as a study of the Origin of Life not the genesis of the human species. There are few researchers (including Jacobson of ASU who discovered Lucy) who will not do any human evolutionary tree today. Darwin did not go to the Galapagos to study humans. He tried also to maintain he was not inspired by Lamarck (whose work includes an attunement or qualitative aspect that Russian science still employs rather than the more quantitative approach of most Western scholars) but it was subsequently shown that Darwin was well versed in Lamarckian principles and employed much of his insight though from a different premise or POV. Darwin also had a Theory of Love. You do not read about it and that is sad, because that really integrates what I am about to demonstrate if this discussion goes to the nature of lattice intersectional consciousness. That is where one encounters another theory - different from Interventionism or the alien seed from microbial RNA lattices. Darwin was greatly hampered by his materialistic science that understood nothing of the cellular level of life biologic. They had no microbiology or electron microscopes. It is upon the cellular substrate that each lifeform has been created and the Human Genome Project assures us we are not so different genetically from the worm. I offer certain 'Faith'-based evidence as proof of that contention. This theory suggests that the crystalline structure of rocks and minerals had a part to play in focusing energy to the biological soup ingredients at the beginning of life on earth. It is cutting edge stuff and I have only seen one article on it. I like this theory because I am a great fan of String Theory and Solid State Physicists like Robins and Tiller of Stanford (He has a recent book on Creation of life which I quote and have referred to many times in these debates.). String Theory tells us that all matter and energy is derived from 'one dimensional harmonic forces'. Now I can also draw the Logos into this and ask about the two muons separated in the deep Sudbury research center. How can sub-atomic particles communicate as was shown in this study? If they can communicate do they have some rudimentary consciousness? Indeed consciousness may not be only existent in biologic life. Going down that path will eventually take us to our most feared Creator or the collective unconscious, and the ONE of many non-theistic disciplines like Buddhism. I did not come to the point I am at (OPEN), by desire to believe in a Creator. I assure you I am raised in the most Atheistical up-bringing and approach. But now I see some merit in something these religions may have intuited somehow. In the open state any asymmetry causes an energy imbalance to build up, caused by rectification of random fluctuations occurring in the surrounding region. When some shock causes closure, an energy discharge will occur and the resulting flow can provide the shock needed to cause a change in state of other nearby junctions. So waves of switching action will arise spontaneously: these could be the quantum waves: the core feature of quantum theory. Furthermore, all the ingredients are present from which a working neural network could evolve and could ultimately yield a primary consciousness. The network or grid, now defining the "nuether" and represented symbolically by a rectangular mesh in Figures 3, 5, and 6, would interconnect everything in the universe. As yet, however, no universe of matter could exist. Spontaneous creation of the nuether had to occur first, followed by evolution of its consciousness, since on this model matter would require deliberate design. {This came from the site of the Center for Philosophical Freedom and an extensive article by Ronald Pearson which includes this description of his work as well Articles by and about Ronald Pearson, the Derbyshire scientist who has discovered a structure of the ether that has potential to evolve intelligence. This has provided the mathematics to back up the experiments of Sir William Crookes and Charles Richet. In these experiments, deceased people returned, proving they had survived death.} (12) I see so much in current science that supports life after death theories; and yet it may not be our personality which continues to exist in the ways most religions or concepts like Karma think of it. Beyond limbo or purgatory and these local event horizon states or attached energy bandwidths I think little could be likened to what we would call our own persona. In closing let me say simply we must learn to think and question in the Socratian manner or else we are headed for a lot more war and other ghastly results. When she came out of the anaesthetic, she turned to the always faithful Alice B. Toklas and said, What is the answer? The heartbroken Alice was unable to reply and, after a pause, Gertrude went on: In that case, what is the question? These, it is said were her last words.(13) And in my mind no bard or mere poet ever asked a more important question of life each and every day. Details About Cream

Cream is a fat rich component and has been known from time immemorial as the fatty layer that rises to the top portion of the milk when left undisturbed. It may be defined as that portion of milk which is rich in milk fat. It can also be defined as the portion of milk into which fat has been gathered and which contains a large portion of milk fat. When milk fat is concentrated into a fraction of the original milk, that portion is known as "cream". As per the PFA rules in India (1976), cream, excluding sterilized cream, is the product of cow or buffalo milk or a combination thereof. Cream contains not less than 25 per cent milk fat. It is rich in energy giving fat and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, the contents of which depends on the fat level in the product. Composition of cream Water - 45.45-68.2% Fat - 25-60% Protein - 1.69-2.54% Lactose - 2.47-3.71% Ash - 0.37 - 0.56% Total solids - 31.8-54.55% Solids not fat - 4.55-6.80% Manufacture of cream I. Gravity method When the milk is allowed to stand undisturbed for some time, there is a tendency for the fat to rise to the top due to difference in the specific gravity of fat and the rest of the components. But the gravity method being very slow, no longer commercially used for the separation of cream. II. Centrifugal method Centrifugal cream separators are similar to milk clarifiers in that they consist of a stack of conical discs housed in a separator bowl and rotated at high speed by an electric motor. The separator is a unit, which removes most of the fat from milk by centrifugal force. Its principal components are power source, a separator bowl, a set of gears and shafts, a product inlet and a product outlet for cream and skim milk. The separator bowl consists of an outer shell within which are a large number of cone shaped discs constructed so that between each pair is a very small space of not more than 0.5 mm. As the milk enters the bowl, it is distributed into these spaces between the discs; it is immediately subjected to a tremendous force. While both the fat and skim milk are subjected to the centrifugal force, the difference in specific gravity affects the heavier portion (skim milk) more intensely than the lighter portion (i.e. cream) thereby the skim milk is forced to the periphery while the fat portion moves towards the center of axis. The skim milk and cream both form vertical walls within the bowl and are separated by being led trough separate outlets. Any insoluble particles in the milk, such as bits of curd or dirt etc., collect as 'separator slime' and are thrown outward as the bowl operates and pass along with the skim milk into the space between the outer edge of the discs and the inner space of the bowl shell. Such material is deposited on this space of the bowl shell, which is removed later. Separator bowl operates at speeds as great as 20,000 rpm. The separator is a precision instrument and hence has to be in good condition and operated properly to get maximum skimming efficiency. Uses of Cream The cream can be used for direct consumption in the form of table or whipping or coffee cream. It can be incorporated in the production of special dishes. Its utility in the production of plastic, frozen and sour cream is noteworthy. It also acts as a raw material in the production of butter, ice cream, butter oil and ghee, an indigenous dairy product. It also finds a place in the creaming of cottage cheese. Top Ten Natural Acne Home Remedies

Acne is a condition that affects a wide range of people, though it is more common in teenagers and young adults. The cause of acne has also been attributed to a variety of reasons ranging from dietary, genetic to even environmental. Whatever the cause of acne the fact remains that when acne is not well managed or treated it becomes a problem. There are numerous acne treatment products available nowadays but a closer look at what we have available to us in our immediate surroundings will reveal unusual but effective acne cures. This article brings to you 10 very effective acne home remedies: 1. Garlic Here there are two methods which you can either use together or choose one. The first option is to crush two or more bulbs of garlic and apply it to the affected areas twice daily. The other option is to chew and swallow one or more bulbs of garlic daily. You just have to cope with the strong smell of garlic. 2. Egg White Crack some eggs and remove the yolks, leaving only the egg whites. Beat these egg whites for some time and apply this to your face. Wait for fifteen minutes and wash off the egg whites from your face. The egg whites help to remove excess oil from your face, egg white also heals and rebuilds the skin. 3. Toothpaste As far as I know no scientific findings have proven how toothpaste can actually cure, the spread of acne but it still remains one of the most widely used acne home remedies. It might be a result of trial and discovery that made the toothpaste serve not only to clean the teeth but also as an unusual acne home remedy. Apply it directly to your acne before sleeping. This is believed to help control the swelling overnight. Just make sure that it is not the gel but the paste. 4. Baking Soda It is widely available in all homes. Apart from its primary function in baking it is also good as a facial scrub. The purpose of a facial scrub is to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin that can eventually clog pores and lead to acne spots. Add water to a small amount of baking soda and make a paste out of this. Gently massage the paste into your skin for ten to fifteen seconds. Then rinse the baking soda off, and pat your face dry with a clean towel. Dont allow the baking soda to stay on your face longer than fifteen minutes. 5. Salt and Water Prepare a salt solution by adding salt into warm water. Use the resulting solution to wash your face twice a day, morning and evening. This will remove the excess oil from your face. 6. Vinegar Most people that use vinegar to treat acne use the apple cider form of vinegar, you can also use plain old regular vinegar. Regardless of which type you use, vinegar can be very helpful when it comes to clearing up acne. It can kill off acne causing bacteria, balance your skin's pH, and absorb extra oil on your skin. Starting with clean, dry skin, apply diluted vinegar (eight parts water to one part vinegar) directly to your skin with a cotton ball, and leave it on. If you want, you can also use a stronger vinegar solution (say, 2 or 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar), and apply it directly to problem areas, rinsing it off after ten minutes. 7. Cucumber Cucumber is capable of helping the digestive system function normally. Since the digestive system is closely related with the health of the skin, it should help reduce acne breakouts. 8. Lime Lemon or Orange Take your pick from any of these members of the citrus family. Lime and lemon are very rich in citric acid which is a very good exfoliator. You can also apply fresh lemon juice mixed with rose water in your face, leave it there for 15 minutes. A continuous application of this for 15 days will give you amazing results. Ground orange peel added with water to make a paste and applied to the acne can also make your face free of acne again. Lime combined with rose water is also a recommended acne home remedy. Just apply it on your face and leave it for 15-20 minutes then rinse with warm water. 9. Oatmeal Oatmeal can absorb unwanted oil and draw out impurities which reside deep in the skin. Cook some plain oatmeal like you would for consumption. Let it cool off, and rub it over your clean skin. Let it stay for a while, like you would a mask, and then rinse off. If you do this on a regular basis, you should notice results soon. 10. Aloe Vera This helps prevent acne scars it also heals acne spots. As you may know Aloe Vera is used in a wide variety of home remedies. Visit http://www.naturalacneskincaretips.com for more natural skin care tips.

Essential Oils-A Formula for a Holy Anointing Oil Found in the Bible

God did give Moses a formula for a holy anointing oil shortly after the Israelites began the Exodus trek through the desert. It contained four essential oils known for their healing abilities in an olive oil base. Why do you think God chose these particular oils? What are their healing properties? Read on. Myrrh 500 shekels Cinnamon 500 shekels Cassia 250 shekels Calamus 250 shekels Olive oil 1 hin A shekel is about 12 grams or approximately a half an ounce. A "hin" was about a half a quart (16 ounces). In I Chronicles 9:30, responsibility for mixing and maintaining a supply of this holy blend went to the priestly caste-the Levites who were the descendants of Aaron. In Ecclesiasticus 38:4,8, they are referred to as "apothecaries," "pharmacists," or "perfumers" depending on your Bible translation. "The Lord created medicines out of the earth, and the sensible will not despise them.. the pharmacist makes a mixture from them." Eccles 38, 4,8. This holy anointing oil was a specific blend for anointing the dwelling, furniture and all those who dwelt in the home. The act of anointing thus rendered the home and its occupants holy which meant they were "set apart for God." In a sense, God put his seal upon the people with this special oil. Many today believe that Moses used this aromatic blend to protect the Israelites from a plague. What meaning does this have for us today? First of all, it is great news. We are being visited by modern day "plagues" such as SARS, MRSA, and many viruses that have actually been around on the earth since Biblical times. Essential oils are a key to protecting ourselves against these deadly diseases. If you study the chemical compounds found in myrrh, cinnamon, cassia, and calamus you find that according to modern science, these oils contain either immune-stimulating or antiviral compounds or both. If that is the case, then no home should be without these medicinal therapeutic grade essential oils. For more information on the chemistry of these ancient essential oils you may wish to attend an aromatherapy program that emphasizes the chemistry and proper use of therapeutic grade essential oils. Good Science Fair Project Ideas - Where Do They Come From?

The very idea of conducting a science fair is to help the students learn scientific facts in an interesting way, to understand it and also exhibit what they had learnt, to an audience. To achieve this, the theme of the project must be within the realm of the students and has to be chosen carefully. In order to have a successful project, one must first find a good science fair project idea. Good school libraries and well equipped public libraries should be a helpful source for good science fair project ideas. But now plenty are available over the Internet. One can get a good science fair project idea from the ones listed, according to the targeted age group. In the science category, choose a topic that interests most of the students. Then, narrow it down and make it into a project. It would be ideal if it can be of some use to the general public also. In general, use the internet sparingly, unless there is a paid guide. Keep in mind that all of the ideas and information you find for free on the internet are about projects that have been done before by thousands of other students, while in general, paid guides are performed by far fewer students because of the price tag barrier. A good science fair project idea can be chosen from natural science, physical science, microbiology or any interesting branch of science. Be considerate that the necessary articles required for the project are freely available either naturally or in the nearby areas. Let not the collection of materials be a big chore for the eager students that the project becomes a hard task. Safety should be high on the list such that the students understand the risks involved and the project is undertaken in such a way that it is monitored and supervised both in the school and if it is carried on at home, by some elder. It would be ideal if the project be done and over within a few minutes time, such that it can be demonstrated in full to the judges and the audience, who attend the fair. Time consuming projects can make the tiny minds restless. Bigger projects that need checking and validation may be reserved for the students of the higher grades. Simple projects should be easily reproducible. Little projects that have a public value may be highly appreciated, and should definitely be considered good science fair project ideas if they have wide application. Few natural cycles that take a few days to complete may be carefully conducted such that the audiences may be asked to revisit the fair, which may be a crowd puller project. Explanation of simple magical tricks and attempts to demystifying existing myths may be quiet receptive to the young minds. For zoology projects, information is gathered by observation. For physics and chemistry projects, experiments are done, data is collected and the conclusions are made. Such should be the good science fair project ideas. Good science fair project ideas and the projects should keep the young minds motivated. Jordan Matthews is a High School Math and Science teacher who has worked as a judge and a coordinator of many science fairs. Check his Science Fair Project ideas website for some more ideas and information about how to choose a good science fair project idea, plus reviews of the best paid science fair project guides available.

TheraBreath Review

This article is a brief TheraBreath review a review of one of the more popular bad breath remedies available on the internet. The product line deserves some scrutiny because it enjoys such high rankings in Google that it invariably comes up on the first page, no matter what bad breath related search terms you use. So, whats it all about? TheraBreath, sometimes spelled Thera breath, is a relatively new product developed by a Dr. Harold Katz, a medical professional with credentials in both dentistry and microbiology. This is an ideal mix of education for a bad breath specialist because bad breath, or halitosis, originates in the mouth and is caused by the activities of bacteria. To learn more about the originator of TheraBreath review the background information on the website. The Thera breath website not only provides information and access to the various products offered, but also gives an explanation of how the products work to cure halitosis and unlike the information provided with many medicinal products offered to the public, Katzs explanation is based on solid medical knowledge and scientific information. It makes sense. Again, to read what he says about the science behind TheraBreath review his articles on the product website. Katz is to be commended for the variety of products his Thera breath line includes: clients can choose from a range of washes and rinses, sprays, toothpastes, mints, gum, breath strips, tongue scrapers and other oral care accessories, nasal sprays, and kits including a selection of products. The variety is too vast for this TheraBreath review to discuss comprehensively, but Katzs website, of course, showcases them all. As is typical of over the counter and natural remedies, and even prescription medications, Thera breath wont work for everybody, and will work best when combined with an ongoing routine of oral care that includes regular cleaning of the teeth and tongue, and professional care from a dentist. Healthy lifestyle and diet help too. Before choosing TheraBreath, review the products available, the information on the site, and other sources of information about halitosis. Then, if youre sure you need a commercial product, why not give Thera breath a try the prices are reasonable and it may very well work. R. Drysdale is a freelance writer with more than 25 years experience as a health care professional. She is a contributing editor to Bad Breath Cure, a blog dedicated to the treatment of bad breath.

Programs in Natural Health - Certificate, Diploma and Degree Courses

Were you aware that educational programs in natural health can lead to a certificate, diploma or degree? In a naturopathic course, for starters, aspiring candidates can achieve a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Degree by successfully completing up to six* years of in-depth studies. (*Check individual programs in natural health for exact curricula and time-table.) In this particular field of study, students gain comprehensive training and education the history, application and philosophies of naturopathy; including common subject matter like anatomy, pathology and microbiology; homeopathy, colonics, herbal/botanical medicine, natural pharmacology, bodywork and somatic education, Chinese medicine, and integrative medicine, among other relative studies. Other degree programs in natural health, like the Master's in Herbology can be earned in just a few years' time. Typical curriculum in this natural healthcare discipline includes but is not limited to fundamental theories and diagnostics of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), and of course, herbal medicine. Relative studies in these programs in natural health are comprised of over 300 herbs, Chinese Materia Medica, herbal prescription and pharmacology, and clinical/laboratory applications. Certificate and diploma programs in natural health are vastly diverse; and may include career-training courses in massage therapy, reflexology, herbal remedies, aromatherapy, iridology, and holistic health. Some of the more popular and growing programs in natural health that offer certification and/or diplomas of completion are studies in massotherapy. Today, prospective healing arts practitioners can earn a diploma from any one of a number of natural healing or massage therapy schools in less than one or two years. Dependent upon the level of education and practical training you choose to pursue in bodywork, you will find that typical massage programs in natural health range between 300 and 500 hours; however, to achieve National certification level, students must complete a minimum of 500 training hours. In these natural healing courses, candidates are introduced to anatomy, physiology, pathology and kinesiology. Additional hands-on training in somatics often includes Swedish massage, deep tissue massage and sports massage; but with growing competition in the field, many natural health programs have begun integrating advanced training in holistic healthcare, aromatherapy, reiki, hydrotherapy, and a number of other bodywork modalities. An iridology course, as one of many programs in natural health, often combines education and training in the study of the iris; with herbal medicine and holistic nutrition. In many cases, this course of study can be completed through home studies, in addition to convenient seminars and workshops. Upon successful completion, individuals are awarded a certificate; and have the option to apply these professional credentials to an already-established holistic health/wellness clinic, or as a stand-alone practice. If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding healing arts courses, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started!
